摘要: THERE has been much recent interest in the possible existence of widespread aeolian deposits Britain. In southern England brickearths at Pegwell Bay1–3 (TR36) and elsewhere4 have interpreted, although without mineralogical confirmation, as extensions European loess. Silt, excess that which could be derived from weathering substrata generally considered loessial, is found many British soils5–10 but it not ubiquitous. For example, occurs soils on Chalky Boulder Clay Essex11, same till central East Anglia Chalk Breckland north-west Norfolk replaced by sand.
