N-Silylation of amines mediated by Et3SiH/KOtBu

摘要: Silylation of primary and secondary amines is reported, using triethylsilane as the silylating reagent in presence potassium tert-butoxide (KOtBu). The reaction proceeds well 0.2 equiv KOtBu. In competition experiments, aniline selectively silylated over aliphatic amines. Computational studies support a catalytic mechanism which initiated by KOtBu interacting with silane to form KH amine. then takes role base propagation cyclic mechanism, deprotonates This reacts R3SiH afford product R3SiNR’R” regenerate KH.
