The American Board of Surgery examinations: how are the Southwestern Surgical Congress programs performing compared to the rest of the United States?

摘要: Abstract Background Our aim was to study pass rates of the American Board Surgery (ABS) examinations for examinees from programs in Southwestern Surgical Congress (SWSC) compared with rest United States (Non-SWSC). Methods A retrospective review ABS Qualifying Examination (QE), Certifying (CE), and QE/CE index 2005 2015 conducted. Results From 2010, SWSC outperformed Non-SWSC QE (88% vs 85%, P Conclusions across CE early period, but only on late period. We encourage states regional surgical societies evaluate performance collaborate improve training.
