摘要: Many arthropods, including terrestrial isopods, are capable of entering a state tonic immobility upon mechanical disturbance. Here we compare the responses to stimulation in three isopods Balloniscus glaber, sellowii and Porcellio dilatatus. We applied stimuli random order recorded whether each individual was responsive (i.e. showed immobility) or not duration response. In another trial related time needed elicit response individual. least species dilatatus most, with 23% 89% tested individuals, respectively, being responsive. Smaller were more than larger individuals. responded promptly spp. but it shortest Neither sex, size nor type stimulus explained variability found immobility. These results reveal large behavior, even between closely species, which seems reflect species-specific predators different foraging modes.
