摘要: Various situations are described in which societal action may be interpreted as a dollar value placed on averting human fatality, and numerical values derived each case. Situations included variety of medical screening care programs automobile highway safety measures, food for overseas relief, air pollution control, fire prevention, industrial safety, several radiation-related activities including standards radium drinking water, radwaste systems nuclear plants, defense civilian high-level waste management. Values varying from few thousand dollars to hundreds millions per fatality averted obtained. An attempt derive data this type polling is described.
