摘要: White-spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is a devastating, infectious affecting shrimp. Although sensitive techniques involving PCR have been developed to assist farmers in screening shrimp (brood stock) for WSSV prior stocking ponds, such practices not yet applied Korea. Despite the rationality of implementing screening, there has some doubt as whether WSSV-PCR-negative fry epidemiologically decreases white-spot disease outbreaks. Here, we report retrospective analysis data from farms western coast Korea where brood stocks were used stock rearing ponds. A total 366 Heuksan Island sampled with PCR. Of tested shrimp, 7.2% (28 stocks) identified positive; only stocks. Total unit production (final production/ area ponds) was higher, at 1.96, ponds used, compared 1.02 other 2004. This may be useful aquaculture industry, suggesting testable hypothesis that contribute eventual control
