摘要: Abstract Background and aims : Undernutrition is a common problem in patients with cystic fibrosis associated poor prognosis. The two of this study were to assess compare the main field techniques measurement total energy expenditure and, secondly, stable healthy controls. Methods: Resting was measured using indirect calorimetry 24-h heart rate (HR) methodology doubly isotopically labelled water. Results: Seventeen patients, mean age 23 years FEV 1 52% predicted thirteen controls recruited. higher 0.24 (0.03) MJ/kg Fat-Free Mass (FFM) compared 0.22 (0.02) FFM, P =0.02. Twenty-four hour underestimated expenditure, 9.49 (1.85) MJ/day 11.69 (2.79) There no difference both methods, 11.38 (2.71) Conclusions: In clinically young adult moderately severe respiratory disease comparable that an control population despite increase resting HR water are suitable for use fibrosis.
