Antecedents and consequences of pediatric dog-bite injuries and their developmental trends: 101 cases in rural China

摘要: OBJECTIVE: Study the contextual antecedents and consequences of pediatric dog bites in rural China. METHODS: A total 101 caregivers from Anhui Province, China, whose children had suffered dog-bite injuries past year, participated a structured interview about circumstances, their child's injury. RESULTS: Contextual circumstances identified frequently included outside-home environment presence peers but not adult supervisors. Frequent were dogs' initiation encounter, walking to/from school, dogs unleashed. Consequences to rabies vaccines, restricted activity, fear dogs. Developmental trends emerged, with bite differing by children's ages. CONCLUSIONS: These results offer data on common necessary prerequisite for development empirically supported prevention programs vulnerable population. Language: en
