摘要: We discuss the importance of timing in brain function: how temporal dynamics world has left its traces during evolution and we can monitor human with non-invasive measurements. Accurate is important for interplay neurons, neuronal circuitries, areas individuals. In brain, multiple integration windows are hierarchically organized, scales ranging from microseconds to tens hundreds milliseconds perceptual, motor cognitive functions, up minutes, hours even months hormonal mood changes. impaired several diseases. From current repertoire imaging methods, only magnetoencephalography (MEG) scalp electroencephalography (EEG) provide millisecond time-resolution; our focus this paper on MEG. Since introduction high-density whole-scalp MEG/EEG coverage 1990s, instrumentation not changed drastically; yet, novel data analyses advancing field rapidly by shifting mere pinpointing activity hotspots seeking stimulus- or task-specific information characterizing functional networks. During next decades, expect increased spatial resolution accuracy time-resolved better understanding function, especially constraints, development finer-grained, physiologically inspired generative models local network activity. Merging both increasing carrying out recordings naturalistic conditions, including social interaction, will bring much new about function.
