摘要: The effectiveness of tree species as bioindicators/biomonitors depends on appropriate selection based their tolerance and sensitivity to air pollution, which is usually evaluated by the pollution index (APTI). Despite importance APTI in screening for biomonitoring, there are still limitations its usefulness green belt establishment/management. Therefore, this study combined anticipated performance (API) evaluate potential some commonly growing campus University Ilorin, north-central Nigeria, development. revealed that alone not adequate determining suitability development, although it can be employed identify sensitive plants biomonitoring. combination API a practical approach developing sink control. indicated Vitellaria paradoxa (API = 4) good performer while Terminalia catappa, Acacia nilotica Prosopis africana (API = 3) moderate performers. present suggests integration both plant indices very useful development belt.
