摘要: Nascent polypeptides generated by eukaryotes rarely represent the true form of mature proteins. Instead, many newly synthesized proteins undergo posttranslational modifications that may mediate either subtle or profound effects on function protein. In this review, we focus proteolytic cleavage as a type irreversible modification. We describe different mechanisms three disparate families cell-surface receptors; Notch receptors, protease-activated receptors (PARs) and G-protein receptor site (GPS) containing receptors. All these exemplify how modification proteolysis can greatly affect through variety intriguing mechanisms. Keywords: proteolytic; receptor cleavage; Notch; GPS; PAR; posttranslational
