Preparation of highly stable superhydrophobic TiO2 surfaces with completely suppressed photocatalytic activity

摘要: Abstract TiO 2 nanoparticles with a mean size of 20–30 nm were covered by ultrathin polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film, which shows hydrophobic properties. Surfaces consisting the PDMS-coated particles showed water contact angles close to 170°. In contrast films organic molecules, can be photocatalytically decomposed on in presence UV light, PDMS-coating was highly stable. The completely suppressed photocatalytic activity . unique properties exploited for protection layer and self-cleaning surfaces.
