摘要: This dissertation describes three new applications of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Arsenic content was measured in rice and coffee samples. These results for the concentration arsenic independently verify a similar FDA study. Direct comparisons different types (i.e. black, brown, jasmine) indicated no correlation amount type rice. Additionally, samples were cultivated locations throughout world analyzed to discern any trends between country origin. Laser ablation (LA-ICP-MS) is used measure trace elemental composition various well-known brands duct electrical tapes. A method derived from existing chemometric principles (principal components analysis) identifying which elements vary most tape described. The applied measurements collected tapes they are compared one another. Pigments ship sank off coast Texas 1684 recently recovered. ICP-MS perform analysis on these identify pigment. pigments suspected be products trade with natives world. As common at time, also adulteration (being cut cheaper product); evidence such practice. sensitive useful tools analysis. Knowing exact using this technique can help scientists assist setting
