摘要: ABSTRACT Background The authors conducted a study to examine oral cancer prevention and early detection practice patterns in population-based random sample of practicing health care professionals New York state. Methods surveyed population-based, self-weighting, stratified dentists (n = 1,025) dental hygienists They assessed the subjects' readiness offer tobacco-use cessation alcohol-abuse counseling examinations. Results effective response rates were 55 66 percent for hygienists, respectively. In terms perform examinations patients aged 40 years older, large majority (82 72 hygienists) maintenance stage behavior, indicating that routine part their practice. counseling, only 12 21 stage, 2 4 offering counseling. Conclusions Oral seem have been adopted as standard by most providers state, but services, such regarding tobacco use alcohol abuse, are lacking. Clinical Implications should be trained services encouraged include these along with continued provision examinations, aspect care.
