摘要: Sandy beaches dominate most temperate and tropical coastlines where they represent both important recreational assets buffer zones against the sea. In some areas are very productive exploited commercially. However, have been regarded as marine deserts by many biologists were largely neglected until Remane (1933) began studies on coasts of Germany. The work Pearse et al (1942) was also pioneering represented first qualitative attempt to evaluate a whole beach system. Since then sandy ecology has advanced considerably, though it always lagged behind other aspects coastal in attention enjoyed. During this period biological research spread from early taxonomic through quantitative physiology species towards more holistic systems approach today.
