摘要: Abstract The Iron Gates section of the Lower Danube valley along border between Romania and Serbia has an unparalleled record Mesolithic Early Neolithic settlement spanning period from ca. 12,700 to 5600 cal BC. Over 50 cave open-air sites were identified during archaeological surveys in advance dam construction 1960s 1980s, follow-up rescue excavations revealed numerous burials architectural remains produced rich inventories faunal material portable artifacts including artworks ornaments bone, shell stone. Most are no longer accessible, submerged beneath reservoirs created by I II dams. Since 1990, new have been conducted at Aria Babi Vlasac Serbia, Schela Cladovei Romania, while detailed studies finds both old undertaken researchers based UK fueled developments science.
