摘要: One often encounters disagreements in information science (IS) (or library and science, LIS), even about what might seem rather trivial questions. Such range from the designation of field to questions such as whether IS is an academic discipline or not, its aim is, core concepts are, kinds problems we try solve, theories, metatheories, related disciplines are most important ones for us. Some people tend regard a branch computer cognitive sciences, while others consider it part cultural studies studies, different views reflected various names given field. These disagreement their mutual dependencies focus this chapter, with emphasis on labels “Poor terminological hygiene” may account some disagreements, but basically problem seen lack sufficient strong centripetal tendencies keeping together.
