Social Policy and Personal Life: Changes in State, Family and Community in the Support of Informal Care

摘要: Recent developments in the provision of ongoing care have served to highlight significance informal caregiving for social policy, making private households preferred site exercise public responsibility many most vulnerable and dependent citizens. We discuss two contemporary challenging policies which support caregiving. One is post-industrial transformation employment, while supporting continued growth female labour force participation also reshaping hours work stability employment women men. A second concerns demands are responsive difference distinctive values communities shared sexual, ethnic religious identity. With these mind, paper explores options policy briefly considers how might be implemented. Three approaches canvassed: enforcement family through withdrawal assistance; relief responsibilities by alternative forms support; development a ‘shared care’ approach, based on ‘partnership’ between state, community family. The suggests that third option likely prove viable acceptable, it necessary ensure alternatives reliance not neglected.
