摘要: The sulfur content in diesel fuel has a significant effect on engine emissions, which are currently subject to environmental regulations. It been observed that particulate and gaseous emissions directly proportional content. With the introduction of low-sulfur fuels, reductions expected. process reduction petroleum-based fuels also reduces lubricity fuel, resulting premature failure injectors. Thus, another means preventing injector failures is needed for engines operating with fuels. In this study, authors evaluated near-frictionless carbon (NFC) coating (developed at Argonne National Laboratory) as possible solution problems associated low-lubricity Tribological tests were conducted NFC-coated uncoated H13 52100 steels lubricated high- low- high-frequency reciprocating test machine. results showed NFC coatings reduced wear rates by factor 10 over those steel surfaces. rate was even greater (i.e., 12 compared pairs), indicating holds promise potential use
