摘要: BACKGROUND: In all 8353 women and 7058 men aged 45-64 took part in the Renfrew/Paisley survey 1972-1976. They formed a prospective cohort study of general population West Scotland; an area with high ischaemic heart disease (IHD) mortality rates. The objective this was to investigate three indicators pre-existing IHD determine how they predicted subsequent females compared males. METHODS: Pre-existing ascertained by Rose Angina questionnaire, question on severe chest pain indicating evidence previous electrocardiogram at screening examination. Mortality information for 15-year follow-up period available. RESULTS: higher older ages less common than men. risks were doubled those single cardiovascular indicator without, increased fourfold two or more indicators. Indicators had specificity low sensitivity both men, positive predictive values oldest age group similar youngest group. CONCLUSIONS: Each useful predictor even though rates lower women. obtained questionnaire could be implemented primary health care setting identify quickly risk who would benefit from further investigation intervention.
