A longitudinal investigation of sports‐related risk factors for disordered eating in aesthetic sports

摘要: Previous studies have indicated a higher risk of disordered eating in certain types elite sports such as aesthetic (e.g., rhythmical gymnastics, figure skating). But even though some on factors for exist, most research this topic is based cross-sectional data with limitations causal inferences. We examined sports-related 1-year longitudinal study two assessment points. The participants were 65 adolescent athletes from (mean age 14.0  ±.2.2 years) who completed measures eating, social pressure the environment, body dissatisfaction, desire to be leaner improve performance, and emotional distress resulting missed exercise sessions. All variables relatively stable mean. Individual changes performance associated individual eating. Furthermore, cross-lagged partial correlation analysis showed that was predictive not vice versa. results our indicate are more at if they believe it possible enhance their through weight regulation.
