摘要: The applicability of high-intensity training and the possibility inducing physiologic adaptation to are still uncertain in patients with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). purposes this study were evaluate proportion moderate COPD whom exercise (30-min session at 80% baseline maximal power output [Wmax]) is feasible, response these patients. We also sought possible influence severity on intensity achieved development following endurance training. Forty-two (age = 66 +/- 7 yr, FEV1 38 13% predicted, [mean SD]) evaluated after a 12-wk program. Each evaluation included stepwise test an ergocycle up individual capacity during which minute ventilation (VE), oxygen consumption (VO2), carbon dioxide production (VCO2), arterial lactic acid concentrations measured. consisted 25 30-min sessions calibrated three times week, target Wmax. was adjusted objective reaching intensity, but ensure that cycling could be maintained for specified duration. sustained duration each averaged 24.5 12.6, 51.7 17.4, 63.8 22.4, 60.4 22.7% Wmax Weeks 2, 4, 10, 12, respectively. High-intensity zero, three, five, five A significant increase VO2max occurred (p or 40% predicted. conclude although most unable achieve as defined study, improvement their obtained occurred. expressed percent maximum capacity, relative effectiveness training, not influenced by airflow obstruction.
