摘要: This paper describes an ex ante analytical framework that can assist in analyzing the potential welfare impacts of specified crop biotechnologies developing countries. In a case-study approach, expected effects virus- and weevil-resistant sweetpotatoes Kenya virus-resistant potatoes Mexico are scrutinized. Built upon recombinant methods, these technologies being developed within joint public-private sector research initiatives. The resulting applications will be released near future and, because traditional cultivation practices do not need to altered, they easily integrated into existing farming systems. quantitative results indicate innovations likely bring about significant gains for agricultural producers consumers. These examples confirm biotechnology offer cost-effective solutions wide range food problems To actualize this broader context, however, requires decisive policy support at national international levels.
