摘要: The diversity of multimedia-enabled devices supporting streamed multimedia is ever growing. Multicast delivery TV channels in IP networks to a heterogeneous set clients can be organised many different ways, which brings up the discussion one optimal. Scalable video streaming has been believed more efficient terms network capacity utilisation than simulcast because flow serve all terminals, while with resolutions are offered parallel. At same time, it also largely recognised that order provide quality compared non-layered coding, scalable coding (SVC) incurs bit rate penalty. In this paper we compare and SVC their required an IPTV scenario where bouquet subscribers. We develop methods calculate approximate demand for two subscriber behaviour models. These then used explore influence various parameters: penalty, number channels, channel popularity main contribution derive analytical formula limit penalty beyond less simulcast. realistic examples considered here, found lie between 16% 20%, reported values range from 10% 30% current H.264 codecs, indicating not always
