摘要: Abstract Suspended biofilm carriers mediating direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET)-based syntrophic metabolism is a promising strategy to enhance anaerobic digestion and methane production by associating the advantages of conductive suspended integrated floating fixed-film activated sludge (An-IFFAS) process. However, current knowledge DIET using carrier still limited. In this study, novel mediator had been prepared introducing series graphite powders (3 wt%, 5 wt% 7 wt%) into high-density polyethylene (HDPE), applied in An-IFFAS reactors. Results showed that reactors filled with graphite-modified could degradation organic matters significantly comparison control reactor conventional HDPE at loading rates (OLRs) 5.9–23.7 kg COD/m3/d. Microbial analysis proved improved approximately 4.2% abundance Geobacter 7.3% electrotrophic methanogens (Methanothrix) exchange via comparing carriers, respectively. These findings demonstrated was able potentially proceed efficiency recover CH4-related energy.
