摘要: Summary Somites are embryonic precursors of the axial skeleton and skeletal muscles establish segmental vertebrate body plan. Somitogenesis is controlled in part by a segmentation clock that requires oscillatory expression genes including Lunatic fringe ( Lfng ). Oscillatory must be tightly regulated at both transcriptional posttranscriptional levels for proper function. Here, we demonstrate microRNA-mediated regulation essential during chick somitogenesis. We find mir-125a-5p targets evolutionarily conserved sequences 3′ UTR preventing interactions between transcripts in vivo causes abnormal perturbs activity. This provides strong evidence microRNAs function clock. Further, this demonstrates relatively subtle effects on target can have broad developmental situations critical requirements tight regulation.
