摘要: The goal of this paper is to empirically assess the level banking competition in European Union (EU) across three economic blocks (i.e. EU-27, EMU-17 and remaining EU countries). Furthermore, assesses impact on-going financial crisis (2008–2011) on pattern sector Monetary (EMU) as a whole, where little attention has been paid by relevant literature. analysis employs Panzar Rosse ((1987). Journal Industrial Economics, 35, 443) methodology draws upon panel dataset banks, spanning period 1996–2011. empirical findings are robust, providing updated evidence favour monopolistic all examined. EMU countries triggered bank consolidations seems have undergone small, albeit significant decline, after adoption euro currency crisis.
