摘要: Background A distinction between a benign follicular neoplasm (FN) and malignant FN based entirely on cytologic examination of fine-needle aspiration biopsy is not possible. The aim this retrospective study was to find predictive factors carcinoma in patients with FN. Methods A chart review 388 (314 females, 74 males; mean age 50 years, range 9–81 years) FN, who were surgically treated 1988 2009, performed. Predictive for malignancy identified by the chi-squared test multivariate logistic regression. Results The histopathological diagnoses carcinoma, adenoma, goiter 127 (33%), 126 (32%), 135 (35%) patients, respectively. independent predictors as shown regression (OR 1.88, P = 0.008), solitary tumor 1.72, P = 0.037), Tg concentration 2.36, P = 0.001). Carcinoma more common younger than 45 preoperative serum 400 ng/ml. Conclusions The tumor, concentration. determination may be useful order decrease number completion thyroidectomies. J. Surg.
