Completed suicide with violent and non-violent methods in rural Shandong, China: a psychological autopsy study

摘要: BACKGROUND: This study aims to describe the specific characteristics of completed suicides by violent methods and non-violent in rural Chinese population, explore related factors for corresponding methods. METHODS: Data this came from investigation 199 suicide cases their paired controls areas three different counties Shandong, China, interviewing one informant each subject using method Psychological Autopsy (PA). RESULTS: There were 78 (39.2%) with 121 (60.8%) Ingesting pesticides, as a method, appeared be most common (103, 51.8%). Hanging (73 cases, 36.7%) drowning (5 2.5%) only observed. Storage pesticides at home higher intent score significantly associated choice while committing suicide. Risk death included negative life events hopelessness.
