摘要: To assess the cost-effectiveness of control measures implemented against epidemics in Guinea West Africa. We collected all routine data available on incidence mortality and their cost during cholera measles meningococcal meningitis 1993–95. Then we estimated for one prefecture effectiveness epidemic three scenarios: (i) ‘natural’ situation (ii) ‘routine’ health services (iii) ‘intervention’. Where uncertainty was considerable used sensitivity analysis ranges. Routine reduced potential deaths by 51% (67% 37% 60% respectively) additional interventions further decreased 28% (28% 27% 30% respectively). The marginal US$29 per death averted. US$93 Even with weaknesses that characterize situations it is possible to show strengthening as performed highly cost-effective. Moreover over a range assumptions confirms well-functioning averted major part avoidable combining existing minimizes impact case management should be cornerstone meningitis. (authors)
