摘要: It is well established that organic solvents such as toluene and styrene are ototoxic in the rat; however, intoxication route used to reach organ of Corti still questionable. The distribution various tissues Long-Evans rats (n = 2 × 8) was studied after inhalation either 1750 ppm or for 10 h (6 consecutive + 4 following day). At end solvent exposures, blood, brain, auditory nerves, Corti, cerebrospinal (CSF), inner ear fluids (IEF) were sampled removed measure rates uptake each tissue by gas chromatography. Results indicate CSF IEF free from detectable solvents, whereas brain contaminated. Therefore, both toluene- styrene-induced hearing losses caused rather than fluid contamination. proposed outer sulcus an Corti.
