摘要: Exoelectron emission has been observed from a clean, annealed Mg (0001) surface during oxygen and chlorine adsorption at pressures of 6.5×10−5 N/m2 lower. The studies were performed in an ultrahigh vacuum system. crystals cleaned by argon ion bombardment annealed, 300 C. Auger electron spectroscopy was used to verify cleanliness, low energy diffraction that the annealed. found be arrival rate dependent. Two peaks with exposure. Evidence is presented formation second peak corresponds oxidation surface. No clean aluminum adsorption. results occurs strain free simply upon oxygen. A qualitative explanation for mechanisms terms chemical effects presented. Presented 31st Annual Meeting Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, May 10–13, 1976
