摘要: Abstract The diversity of people living in a city is often most visible on inner streets. These streets are also the neighbourhood environment children who live central city. In past, wellbeing and sensibilities have been marginalised planning practices western cities but this beginning to change with child-friendly inclusive discourses now more common. paper we report children's experiences confronting inner-city Auckland. 2012, 40 children, 9–12 years, participated walking interviews their local school-based focus group discussions. As talked about lives, moving playing around streets, many described distress discomfort as they confronted homelessness, drunkenness, signs sex industry. A few older strategies for coping these encounters, an emerging acceptance difference pride becoming streetwise. New Zealand (NZ) has history progressive social policy. 2003, it became first country world decriminalise all forms prostitution. Securing health human rights workers were primary drivers reforms. Similar concerns underpin broadly policies towards homelessness. To promote presence alongside those other groups, needs be at forefront concerns. However conclude that there inherent tensions promoting which inclusiveness valued.
