摘要: This article aims to investigate the introduction, sustenance and consolidation of bioethanol in Brazil. It presents an analysis its introductory stage, from first decades 20th century until early 1970s, when, a second additional measures allowed for maturity, under widely known Proalcool. The paper historical reinterpretation policies, mechanisms instruments adopted both stages, aiming highlight economical political links. is concluded that interests agrarian elites, operating at level, fuel supply crisis during Second World War were basic sustain productive logistic capacity maintain ethanol alive as automotive fuel. also launching Proalcool represented transition combining sugarcane agribusiness, burdened by drop sugar prices, need equilibrate balance payments due oil shocks 1970s.
