摘要: Previous studies have found that suburban development is associated with the unbalanced choice of light duty trucks. The specific aspects built environment influence vehicle choice, however, not been well-established. Further, these shed much on underlying direction causality: whether neighborhood designs themselves, as opposed to preferences for characteristics or attitudes towards travel, more strongly individuals’ decisions regarding type. Using a sample from Northern California, this study investigated relationship between design and type controlling residential self-selection. Correlation analyses showed has strong association choice. Specifically, traditional are correlated passenger cars, while nested logit model suggests sociodemographic attitudinal factors play an important role, outdoor spaciousness measure (based perceptions yard sizes off-street parking availability) commute distance also impact after those other influences. This study, therefore, supports premise land use policies at least some potential reduce trucks, thereby reducing emissions.
