摘要: Objective No studies have examined the relationship between caregiver beliefs about risks of smoking to their own health and effect on child's health. In current study, we investigated our proposed risk congruence hypothesis among caregivers who smoke. Specifically, whether caregivers' self-perceived is directly associated with perception child. Method The sample consisted 271 regular smokers (≥ 3 cigarettes per day; Mage = 32.9 years; 214 women) were children asthma (Mage 4.9 years) had a recent visit emergency room for asthma. Three constructs perceived measured via self-report questionnaires assessing both self child: Precaution Effectiveness, Optimistic Bias, Perceived Vulnerability. Child asthma-related functional morbidity home child secondhand smoke exposure also assessed. Results Consistent hypothesis, was significantly child, over above report symptoms (i.e., morbidity). Conclusions These findings should be considered in design clinical interventions seeking influence behavior
