摘要: OBJECTIVES To determine the incidence rate and factors associated with hypothermia in Iranian newborns to discover effect of on neonatal morbidity mortality. METHODS We selected a random sample 1952 neonates using multistage sampling technique from February 2004 2005 University Teaching Hospitals Iran. We measured repeatedly at different time points rectal temperature these newborns. At each measurement, those <36 degrees C were considered as hypothermic. RESULTS The obtained results showed that approximately one third became hypothermic immediately after birth. In addition, regression analysis revealed low birth weights, prematures, apgar scores, infants multiple pregnancies who received cardiopulmonary resuscitation had higher risk for being hypothermic. It was also found increases metabolic acidosis, jaundice, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, pulmonary hemorrhage death, regardless newborn's weight gestational age. CONCLUSIONS There is an urgent need train mothers all levels care staff control this health problem our country.
