摘要: Abstract Arm, H. G. (Naval Medical Research Institute, Bethesda, Md.), T. M. Floyd, J. E. Faber, and R. Hayes. Use of ligated segments rabbit small intestine in experimental shigellosis. Bacteriol. 89:803–809. 1965.—Inoculation living rabbits with broth cultures or resting-cell suspensions recently isolated strains Shigella caused distension the by accumulation exudate within 12 hr. Histological changes characteristic an inflammatory response were similar to those human bacillary dysentery. Tissue preceded demonstrable increase numbers shigellae inoculated as 2 × 1010 resting cells. Capability provoke intestinal was not related any particular serological group. The active principles concerned eliciting associated only preparations containing organisms. Ability elicit diminished rapidly during culture on artificial media. capability preserved indefinitely lyophilization soon after isolation from acute dysentery infections man. Advantages using for investigating possible mechanisms pathogenesis indicated. During summer months, refractory activity shigellae, positive responses observed. qualified indicator virulence rabbit; and, showed a high degree correlation short period media infections.
