摘要: Cattle feedlot dust is an annoyance and may be a route for nutrient transport, odor emission, pathogen dispersion, but important environmental factors that contribute to emissions are poorly characterized. A general protocol was devised test samples their ability produce under variety of conditions. blender modified from dried surface soil collect airborne particles on glass fiber filters by vacuum collection. blending optimized sample volume (150-175 cm3), time (5 min pre-blending), collection (15 s) provided consistent measurements all tested. The procedure performed well varied in organic matter content, restricted containing less than 200 700 g H 2 O kg -1 dry (DM). When applied field samples, the technique demonstrated considerable spatial variability between pen sites. Mechanistically, potential related moisture content. An alternative also differences within sites maximum residence time. two protocols were not intended, nor they suitable, predicting actual particulate agricultural sources. Rather, rapidly inexpensively compared emission differing composition
