摘要: Abstract Recent wave tank experiments on a flap-type energy converter showed the occurrence of extreme loads, corresponding to slamming events in highly energetic seas. In this paper, we analyse pressure-impulse values from available pressure measurements, for series experimental tests. Then, devise model flapping plate, including effects caused by air entrapment near plate. Using double conformal-mapping technique, map original domain into semi-infinite channel, means Gauss’ hypergeometric functions. This allows us express impulse as superimposition orthogonal eigenfunctions transformed space. The mathematical is validated against data. Parametric analysis shows that system much more sensitive impact angle than initial wetted portion flap. Furthermore, presence an aerated region determines increase significantly at all points flap surface.
