摘要: Abstract English texts were constructed from propositional bases. One set of 16-word sentences was obtained semantic bases containing 4 to 9 propositions. For another and paragraphs, number words propositions covaried. Subjects read the at their own rate recalled them immediately. sentences, subjects needed 1.5 sec additional reading time process each proposition. longer texts, this value increased. In experimental condition controlled by experimenter. The analysis both text recall protocols in terms lent support notion that are a basic unit memory for text. However, evidence also while total upon which based proved be an effective psychological variable, all not equally difficult remember: superordinate better than stucturally subordinate.
