摘要: The eleven essays composing this volume address a wide range of interrelated questions within domain which might be called "population theory." Among these are: What moral reasons there be, given certain conditions or expectations, for against bringing people into existence? To principles should we appeal in determining the size, as well composition, future populations? reasons, if any, are attempting to secure indefinite survival human race? Assuming that will generations, what our obligations, concerning them, and grounds obligations? These great theoretical practical importance. They pose extremely intractable problems virtually all normative theories, besides being themselves matters urgent concern at both individual social levels, they intimately bound up with number other widely discussed issues.
