摘要: The morphological and biochemical changes that occur in the early phase of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced beta cell failure have not been characterized. pancreas plasma rats treated with STZ were processed for parameters 1-24 h 4 weeks after treatment. Marked reduction body weight was observed as 3 post treatment hyperglycemia coupled hypoinsulinaemia appeared 1 STZ. Hyperglycemia, hyperglucagonemia hypoinsulinemia became permanent 24 number insulin-positive cells decreased significantly (p<0.05) at a concomitant increase glucagon-immunoreactive cells. Electron microscopy showed coalescing granules 18 A near to complete degranulation settled 21 administration. pancreatic tissue levels adrenaline noradrenaline increased (p<0.004: tissue; p<0.04: plasma) remained high 6 5-HIAA (p<0.002 low 6-9 elicited significant dose-dependent increases insulin secretion from isolated pancreas. catecholamine level may be used screening follow-up studies on diabetes mellitus.
