摘要: Upper gastrointestinal symptoms have troubled patients for centuries. Until recent years the options left open to clinicians were severely limited and centred mainly on special diets antacids1. The discovery of Helicobacter pylori infection antibiotic combinations that eradicate has led cure most peptic ulcer disease2 whilst proton pump inhibitors (PPI) proved effective therapy gastro-oesophageal reflux disease3. Peptic disease account about half with upper symptoms, non-ulcer dyspepsia (NUD) responsible remaining 50%4. It is treatment NUD resistant clinical research. cause this disorder uncertain but it likely be multifactorial evidence poor gastric accommodation, hypomotility hyperalgesia5. multi-factorial nature suggests one unlikely all any intervention going achieve success in only a proportion patients.
