Managing hypertension among nursing-home residents and community-dwelling elderly in Germany: a comparative pharmacoepidemiological study

摘要: The purpose of this study was to investigate the adequacy hypertension management in hypertensive elderly living long-term-care facilities compared with home-living elderly. This retrospective, cross-sectional, pharmacoepidemiological data from a community-dwelling population (CD) and four nursing homes (NH) Dresden, Germany. Individuals aged ≥65 diagnosis arterial were included. Demographical, medical, drug prescription as well blood pressure (BP) values analyzed descriptively after matching populations by age gender. Each comprised 209 patients (mean 80.4 years [±6], 70.3% women). NH showed higher number diseases [7 (5–9) vs. 5 (3–7); p   CD), there is an extended need for professional medication assessment both groups
