Polyneuropathy Associated with Nitrofuran Therapy

摘要: Furacin (nitrofurazone) has been used for the treatment of metastatic testicular carcinoma because disintegration seminiferous epithelium produced in animals by nitrofurans. 1 Although a beneficial effect on malignancy occurred, severe polyneuropathy usually developed. Wildermuth's patient, who had received 49 gm. during 4-week period, developed severe, painful peripheral neuropathy. The neuropathy improved slightly 3 weeks after medication was stopped, but one week resumed, he hospitalized unbearable pain extremities requiring narcotics and nerve blocks month. 2 patient reported Politano neuritis receiving 28 an 18-day period. A Szczukowski 34 orally 45-day symptoms persisted 21/2 months required heavy doses
