摘要: Intracontinental magmatism in eastern North America does not exhibit the regular time progression associated with mantle plume activity. Instead, is sporadic but locally persistent, suggesting that magmas rise from a source drifts continental plate. A spatial association ancient rifts further suggests this 'fertile9, melt-generating material emplaced lithosphere during early stages of rifting.
