摘要: The United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) reports indicate that mortality on the intestine transplant waiting list is higher than other lists. goals of this study were (1) to determine whether most intestinal candidate deaths have occurred in those who also need liver transplants, and (2) compare liver-intestine subset with overall population. We found 90% candidates needed transplants. Since 1994, annual has been population, these differences statistically significant since 1996. These applied all age groups. Also, status 2B, 3, 7 was significantly Because there so few listed as 1 or 2A, a meaningful comparison not possible statuses. data are unique risk dying list. Recent changes UNOS allocation policy gives priority may help reduce discrepancy. However, further research into etiology disease patients long-term parenteral nutrition earlier referral high-risk short bowel syndrome centers special expertise their management an ultimate solution problem.
