摘要: Dementia of the Alzheimer type (DAT) has been linked to losses cholinergic function in brain. The acetylcholinesterase inhibitors donepezil, rivastigmine and galantamine improve cognitive performance manifest dementia. These substances, however, also influence quality sleep, particularly amount dreams. We therefore investigated time point donepezil intake on occurrence nightmares. observed a clear-cut relationship between nightmares an evening dose eight patients with DAT. None these reported when was taken morning. suggest that activation visual association cortex during REM sleep is enhanced by mechanism most likely facilitating development
