摘要: The latest structural studies of immunoglobulin superfamily cell adhesion molecules are driving a shift in perspective; increasingly the view is not focused solely on individual molecule but rather molecular assembly. Two common themes emerging, revealing mechanisms for ectodomain-dependent regulation surface receptors' signalling abilities. first propensity many such to arrange zipper-type or array-type assemblies driven by network highly specific cis and trans interactions. second use extracellular dimensions complex as properties which, combination with characteristic intercellular spacings, can determine co-localisation exclusion particular protein populations at interfaces junctions.
